Like it, Love it: On tour with Finding Flavours, Auckland.

Finding Flavour Tour

As with all cities that I visit I always look forward to the official ‘tour’. For this trip we did a walking tour of the inner city shopping and food precinct of High Street in Auckland city with the lovely Lynn Huhtala, Owner of Finding Flavour.

Our first stop was the Auckland Art Gallery where we were treated to a guided tour of the ‘Light Show Exhibition’. An Exhibition organised by Hayward Gallery, London in association with Auckland Art Gallery. Click here to read the full review.

Next on our stop was the Suffragette Mural, a tiled memorial which is made of over 2000 coloured tiles in Khartoum Place. The passing of the Electoral Act was the culmination of years of agitation by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) and other organisations. As part of this campaign, a series of massive petitions – including one earlier in 1893 signed by almost one in four adult women in New Zealand – were presented to Parliament. Designed by artists, Jan Morrison and Claudia Pond Eyley.

After this we stopped in for morning tea at Hotel DeBrett. I love coffee and yes, I love boutique hotels. Click here to read the full review.

A quick shop around the town for those who wanted it and a quick cheese tasting at Kapiti. Yum! I know I bought a few and brought them home to Singapore! Click here to read the full review.

Thank you Lynn for the walking tour. In fact, it’s the first ‘walking tour’ I’ve been on. I’m usually found on private buses for tours! I had fun!
